Course Content

Scarring Masterclass Course Overview
A practical and theoretical masterclass teaching modern scar assessment and treatment techniques, including PRP, microneedling, TCA CROSS, subcision, and keloid management, with additional modules on melasma and macrocomedones.

Module 1: Foundations of Atrophic Scar Assessment & Treatment
In this module, you will learn how to identify and assess the different types of atrophic acne scars, including ice pick, boxcar, rolling and tethered scars, and understand why accurate scar classification is essential for successful treatment planning. You will explore both destructive and non-destructive treatment options, with a particular focus on modern collagen-stimulating therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and fractional laser treatments. The module explains the biological principles behind scar remodelling, collagen production and platelet activation, while also demonstrating how to clinically assess scars using techniques such as skin stretching to identify tethering. In the practical component, you will learn how to safely collect venous blood, prepare platelet-rich plasma through a two-stage centrifugation process, and understand how PRP is prepared and delivered to patients as part of an evidence-based approach to improving atrophic acne scarring.

Module 2: Percutaneous Collagen Induction & PRP
In this module, you will learn how percutaneous collagen induction (microneedling) stimulates collagen production to improve acne scars, skin texture and overall skin quality. The module explores the history and development of dermal needling, compares traditional dermarollers with modern automated Dermapen devices, and explains how controlled micro-injuries trigger the skin's natural wound-healing response. You will also gain an understanding of the benefits, treatment outcomes and clinical applications of microneedling for acne scarring, skin rejuvenation, stretch marks and selected burn scars.

Module 3: Diagnosis, TCA CROSS & Subcision
This module focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of ice pick, boxcar and tethered acne scars using advanced minimally invasive techniques. You will learn how to accurately assess scar morphology, distinguish between different scar types, and develop effective treatment strategies. The module explores the principles and clinical application of subcision and TCA CROSS, demonstrating how these procedures release fibrotic tethering, stimulate collagen remodelling, and improve scar appearance. Supported by practical clinical demonstrations, you will gain the knowledge required to safely perform these evidence-based procedures and optimise patient outcomes.

Module 4: Hypertrophic & Keloid Scar Management
This module explores the assessment and management of hypertrophic and keloid scars, focusing on their underlying pathology, clinical presentation, and evidence-based treatment. You will learn how to differentiate hypertrophic scars from keloids, understand the indications and techniques for intralesional corticosteroid injections, and appreciate the role of dermal needling in hypertrophic scar management. Through practical demonstrations, the module also covers appropriate equipment selection, injection techniques, post-procedural care, and long-term patient management to achieve predictable and effective clinical outcomes.

Module 5: Pigmentation, Melasma & Macrocomedones
In this course you will develop specialist knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and macrocomedones using evidence-based clinical techniques. This course explores the science behind pigmentation disorders, the role of tranexamic acid therapy, and the effective management of macrocomedones using a hyfrecator. Combining scientific theory with practical clinical demonstrations, you will gain the knowledge and confidence to manage challenging pigmentary conditions and prevent recurrent acne lesions.
