About Course

Master the science and clinical practice of subcision through this comprehensive 8-hour CPD Level 7 module designed for medical professionals.

This module forms part of the SkinMed Academy 40-hour CPD Level 7 Scarring Masterclass and provides an in-depth understanding of subcision as a treatment for rolling and tethered acne scars. Combining evidence-based theory with real clinical demonstrations, you will learn how subcision restores dermal architecture by releasing fibrotic attachments and stimulating collagen remodelling.

Every lesson is supported by practical clinical demonstrations performed by Prof. Tony Chu.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand the science behind tethered acne scars.
  • Identify patients suitable for subcision.
  • Classify rolling and tethered scar types.
  • Understand facial anatomy relevant to subcision.
  • Learn local anaesthetic techniques.
  • Perform subcision using Nokor needles.
  • Recognise indications and contraindications.
  • Prevent and manage complications.
  • Deliver appropriate post-procedure care.
  • Integrate subcision into combination scar treatment protocols.

Course Content

Advanced Surgical Release Techniques for Rolling & Tethered Scars
This module explores the principles and clinical application of subcision for the treatment of tethered and rolling acne scars. You will learn how to identify suitable scar types, assess patients, understand facial anatomy, administer local anaesthesia, perform subcision using Nokor needles, and safely manage patients before, during, and after treatment. Designed specifically for healthcare professionals, this module provides the theoretical knowledge and practical understanding required to confidently incorporate subcision into advanced acne scar management.

Module
This module focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of ice pick, boxcar and tethered acne scars using advanced minimally invasive techniques. You will learn how to accurately assess scar morphology, distinguish between different scar types, and develop effective treatment strategies. The module explores the principles and clinical application of subcision and TCA CROSS, demonstrating how these procedures release fibrotic tethering, stimulate collagen remodelling, and improve scar appearance. Supported by practical clinical demonstrations, you will gain the knowledge required to safely perform these evidence-based procedures and optimise patient outcomes.
