SKINMED® ENERPEEL® MANDELIC ACID (MA)

SkinMed® EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid (MA)

SkinMed® EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid (MA) utilises a patented carrier technology, to transport 40% Mandelic Acid (20% active and 20% inactive, which releases Mandelic acid once in the skin) plus 5% MSM. This combination of ingredients combined in the unique patented carrier solution to treat vascular rosacea and telangiectasia, and are medically licensed for these indications in conjunction with the SkinMed® TripleLock® Products used between treatments to effectively gain control of rosacea in over 80% of users.

SkinMed EnerPeel® MA can also be used for pigmentation and anti-ageing in darker skins at risk of inflammatory pigmentation especially those in darker ethnic groups (acceptable risk) and is widely used by all skin types as a Summer peel, lunchtime peel and weekend peel.

Indications

EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid (MA) is the number one chemical peel used in the Indian subcontinent as an anti-ageing chemical peel. Often used with EnerPeel® Salicylic acid (SA) on top for oily, darker skin types.

The science

Mandelic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that has a number of chemical properties apart from acting as an exfoliating solution that does not trigger erythema. Its ability to help control rosacea has been shown, making it ideal for those prone to reddening.

It is known to be antibacterial and antiviral, and also helps to encourage vascular integrity, having a vaso constrictive action while accelerating vascular remodelling and regeneration while suppressing reddening skin chemical reactions.

EnerPeel®: Patented Carrier Technology

SkinMed® Anti-ageing EnerPeel® uses a patented carrier solution which restrains the activity of the acid until it is absorbed. This is not buffering the acid and thereby reducing its activity; it is restraining it and then releasing it to accelerate through the skin. SkinMed® EnerPeel®s carrier system enhances its activity for uniform and enhanced absorption of the active ingredients; with two to three times improved skin penetration.

The Result

The patented Enerpeel® technology transports microencapsulated active mandelic acid and inactive mandelate into the skin. Deep in the skin, the mandelate converts to mandelic acid, which has a vasoconstrictive effect, helping partially damaged blood vessels to function better and contract, making them less visible. A sequence of four to six MA treatments at two-week intervals, in combination with the Rosacea TripleLock® regimen, established rosacea control, providing long-term relief from symptoms.

Rosacea TripleLock® Products to be used with Enerpeel® MA

Using the SkinMed® EnerPeel® MA

Application details

EnerPeel® MA is a peel that exfoliates but with minimal or no erythema. Can be left on for 2-10 minutes (depending on number of previous peels and patient reaction) and neutralised but for greater remodeling impact, leave in the skin, remove surface residue with water, apply UV to client and send home with a precautionary neutraliser wipe to be used if skin becomes uncomfortable (remove UV before using neutraliser).

The EnerPeel® MA can be used for inflammatory pigmentation treatment and also non-inflammatory pigmentation treatment where there is a concern of using EnerPeel® TCA or EnerPeel® JR.

Fantastic option as an all year round EnerPeel® MA to make the skin glow while also leaving it refreshed and rejuvenated.

Also used in the summer for those who may be concerned of higher sensitivity to UV from other peels.

EnerPeel® MA is recommended with the following protocols:

Rosacea Protocol

EnerPeel® MA works synergistically alongside our all-encompassing SkinMed® Rosacea TripleLock® products create the complete protocol, raising the skins’ trigger tolerance threshold (TTT) and short-circuiting flushing episodes, reducing the appearance of thread veins. EnerPeel® MA is medically licensed to treat vascular rosacea.

Anti-Ageing Protocol

EnerPeel® MA works synergistically alongside our all-encompassing SkinMed® Anti-ageing TripleLock® products to create the complete anti-ageing protocol, boosting Hyaluronic Acid levels in the skin, enhancing new structural fibre production and supplementing skin lipids. The extended exposure protocol increases the effectiveness of collagen revision, with minimal complications is darker ethnic skin groups

Hydration Protocol

EnerPeel® MA gently removes dead skin encouraging newer more hydrated skin to the surface which combined with the SkinMed® TripleLock® on Hydration products completes the Hydration Protocol, addressing changing skin water dynamics, optimising dermal moisture holding and optimising epidermal water levels and surface moisture content targeting Hydration issues at every level of the skin.

Pigmentation Protocol

EnerPeel® MA extended exposure has a long-acting impact on melanin levels but with minimal stimulation of increased melanin production. This combined with SkinMed® TripleLock® on Pigmentation completes the pigmentation protocol, which removes the inflammatory stimulus, normalizes melanin production and creates a stable healthy skin environment into the future.

Acne Protocol

EnerPeel® MA has antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties and so can be used instead of EnerPeel® SA in sufferers with hyperreactive skin or who have lots of really sore spots, or maybe teenagers with delicate skin, helping to unblock clogged hair follicle ducts gently. It is important to utilise the OSK products to target deeper infected and inflamed spots

Top Tip

EnerPeel® MA is commonly used in combination with EnerPeel® SA for Oily skin who may hyper pigment with more aggressive peels, apply the EnerPeel® Mandelic acid (MA) and then 5 minutes later apply Salicylic acid (SA) on top of the EnerPeel® MA.
