Rosacea Awareness Month

Rosacea Awareness Month

Every April, the global community comes together to observe Rosacea Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about Rosacea – a chronic skin condition that affects millions of individuals worldwide, with as many as 1 in 10 people diagnosed in the UK alone.

Rosacea is a common yet often misunderstood disorder characterised by redness, visible blood vessels, swelling and sometimes small, red, pus-filled bumps on the face.
While the exact cause of rosacea remains unknown, various factors such as genetics, environmental triggers and immune system abnormalities are believed to play a role in its development.

The impact of rosacea extends far beyond its physical symptoms, often affecting an individual’s emotional and psychological wellbeing.
The visible signs of rosacea can lead to embarrassment, low self esteem and even social withdrawal.
Despite its prevalence, rosacea is frequently underdiagnosed and undertreated, leaving many individuals to suffer in silence.

SkinMed, in partnership with the Acne and Rosacea Association UK (ARA UK) aim to dispel misconceptions surrounding the condition and provide valuable information to those affected, as well as educating our medical clinics to provide them with the knowledge and expertise to successfully help those who suffer with Roscaea.

Understanding the common triggers, such as spicy foods, hot beverages, alcohol, stress and sun exposure, as well as being provided with a medically licensed treatment protocol, can empower individuals to better manage their symptoms and dramatically improve their quality of life.

One of our primary goals during Rosacea Awareness Month is to encourage those experiencing symptoms to seek professional help from dermatologists and Skin Professionals like you, since early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help prevent the progression of rosacea and minimise its impact on daily life.

Treatment options include SkinMed’s Medically licensed and clinically trialled Rosacea Protocol, comprising of our 3 product Synchrorose set with patented formulas to target the key symptoms of rosacea such as erythema, inflammation, capillaropathy (damage to structure and function of blood vessels) and capillaroneogenesis (excessive new blood vessel development).
It is used alongside Enerpeel Mandelic Acid, licensed for vascular rosacea due to its delivery technology which delivers a vasoconstrictive and anti-inflammatory effect, utilising 20% Mandelic acid, 20% Mandelate and MSM, which together enhance the treatment outcome.

The patented technology releases 20% mandelate and 5% MSM in the skin when it reaches a water content of 70% or more, targeting dermal dilated blood vessels, helping them to contract and tighten up whilst restricting the hyperactive excessive production of new capillaries, preventing the typical veiny complexion seen with this condition.
This makes Enerpeel MA a perfect peel for targeting rosacea, with its gentle and non-invasive action causing minimal to no downtime.

Tebiskin CeraBoost assists to restore and repair the skin barrier function, to raise the skins resistance to triggers such as UV and wind burn.
Tebiskin PLC is also often used as a rescue product for unforeseen flushing and blushing episodes or to try and minimise the skins response to a known trigger which you know you are about to expose yourself to.
By using SkinMed’s Rosacea Protocol, Rosacea patients are expected to see a significant improvement in both their visible symptoms and self-confidence.

Education plays a crucial role in empowering both individuals with rosacea and the wider medical community to recognise the signs and symptoms of rosacea.
The ARA UK, a charity led by world renowned dermatologist Professor Tony Chu, serves as a platform for advocacy, promoting in depth education in both acne and rosacea to medical skin professionals to provide them with knowledge and expertise in the pathogenesis, symptoms and treatments of these two conditions. It is aimed at advancing clinicians’ understanding to enable them to provide effective treatment advice and ultimately improve outcomes for individuals living with acne and rosacea.
By signing up to the ARA UK and becoming an ARA UK accredited treatment centre, SkinMed will actively promote your new accredited status to your catchment area, directing patients through your clinic doors.
What’s more, all proceeds from the cost of the course will go to the ARA UK charity, a great cause in continuing to raise awareness, providing crucial help to those who need it and creating a more inclusive environment where those with acne and rosacea feel supported and accepted.

As we commemorate Rosacea Awareness Month, let us reaffirm our commitment to promoting awareness, understanding and support for those affected by this common yet often overlooked skin condition.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of millions of individuals, fostering a community of compassion, empathy and empowerment.

New Treatment to be added to the protocol

New ROSAGATE Professional Invisible Mask in clinic Treatment, soon to be available as a stand – alone treatment or used in combination with the above to further enhance vascular rosacea symptom control. It will also target Glandular issues such as pustules and macules and plaque formation.
As part of our launch during Rosacea Awareness Month, we are offering all clinics who sign up to the ARA UK Accreditation a free Rosagate Professional Treatment Kit.
