SkinMeds Trading Policy

Our Philosophy and our Mission

SkinMed have a client-driven philosophy in delivering excellence to their clinics.

We don't just sell ‘medical grade products’, a ‘professional line’, or a ‘clinical line’, as these are all merely marketing terms for cosmetically licensed ranges. Instead, our formulas are medically licensed, medically approved, and prescriptible because of our huge investment in clinical trials conducted in medical research facilities and top teaching hospitals across Europe, with trials published and conducted by top dermatology Professors in Italy, France, The Netherlands, Greece, Germany, and the UK.

This is evident, as our products are indicated and licensed, meaning we can say they treat medical conditions such as Type 1 vascular rosacea or comedogenic and inflammatory acne and now also resistant acne, whereas others can only say they treat sensitive skin prone to reddening, or oily skin prone to spots.

Please ask other brands what they are licensed for and challenge their marketing hype. When clinics say they have been approached by another skincare company, we make the point that our formulae are medically approved not cosmetics and we do not describe ourselves as a skincare company We have invested in the research and continue to innovate and develop the ranges we sell. Our prices however are often cheaper than cosmetic ranges as we maximise discount and many clinics sell our products at above the RRP. We pride ourselves in bringing ‘Dermatology to Aesthetics.

How do we invest our ‘profit from clinic sales’?

Website cookies

SkinMed gross profit is much less than our clinics make; varying from a tenth to four tenths of the gross profit that clinics make per SkinMed supplied product. Please see the section on discount policy further on We decided our commercial model is to give the maximum discount we can encourage adoption and volume usage but that then has an impact on additional discount allocation options.

This allows clinics margin to promote the products to their catchment area. After paying all the running costs of a company and employing staff, financing a warehouse, and offering free shipping to any clinic, we still look at how some of the remaining profit can be reinvested wisely on behalf of clinics to drive increased sales, while still generating company profit.

Our philosophy is not about publicising SkinMed but to invest in targeting increased client footfall by promoting our protocols availability at stocking trained and accredited clinics. We are keen to ensure that all client facing staff whether they be front of house or practitioners are experts in our protocols and able to tailor them in bespoke way to their client’s needs.

We are keen to ensure that all client facing staff whether they be front of house or practitioners are experts in our protocols and able to tailor them in bespoke way to their client’s needs.

The level of promotion invested is based on purchasing volume, adoption level of protocols and clinic status e.g., Ambassador status. We have fine-tuned our activity and have found that focusing on direct to client paid for social media advertising on Facebook, Instagram etc. to women between 30 and 60 who are A, B, or C1 (sometimes C2 also) social demographic octiles which is around 35% of the UK population (range from 20% to 50%). We aim to focus on those in these group who have disposable income, such as they are single, or married with grown up children etc. and find these give the best ROI to marketing. We strive to be very targeted and extremely focused on promoting SkinMed protocols, particularly to women who fit the description above who have maturity onset acne or rosacea which account for an extremely healthy niche population of seven million women in the UK.

SkinMed have found the best response is to target women over thirty and below 60 in the top three or four socio economic octiles who are single or have grown up kids who have flown the nest (appropriate family Life Cycle) who are most likely to have disposable income for clinic treatments and who are not affected too much by national economic downturns.

Here you can see the Octiles and the percentage of the population nationally who are in each group. This table is not gender or age specific, however.

In some cases clinics who have been largely unsuccessful with their own marketing, actually ask us to retain some of the discount we offer and to add this to what we proposed to spend on marketing their clinic and our protocols or their ARAUK acne and rosacea accredited status to such as the above, as this (A) works and (B) is always more effective than paying for expensive advertorials in trade press, or in glossy free to end users magazines such as ‘Hertfordshire Today’ (made up title) whereby they get a mention, but little response.

New Client footfall

We also generate footfall by targeting online our consumer products client database, as well as from promotion such as above and focusing on our medical aesthetic offering, that these products are not available in beauty salons but only in medically lead clinics. We also help in other ways to maximise not just footfall but the right footfall by showing clinics how to segment their existing client base to discover a profile, lifestyle, shops they use, gyms, schools, restaurants of their ideal target client. (This we call Client Avatar). From this we work with clinics to develop reciprocal marketing. I have added more on these initiatives and others as an appendix to this document.

Clinical Support and Excellence

We finance doctors, including none other than Professor Tony Chu, to review difficult patients and acts as a free diagnostic resource, providing over 45 years of experience, knowledge and academic prowess as a lecturer, Professor and President of the Acne and Rosacea Association UK. Professor Chu is insured as a medical second opinion, which is financed by SkinMed out of clinic sales. The value of this service to clinics is huge and unquantifiable and is freely available to all clinics offering our complete protocols.

SkinMed is Not a Charity but...

SkinMed are proud sponsors of the Acne and Rosacea Association UK, financing online training for clinics so that clinicians can become experts in treating acne and rosacea, as well as all associated complications such as thread veins and scars. We have also set up and subsidised Prof Chu’s highly sought scarring masterclasses, attended by delegates and our financing a full day photo shoot to bring this to clinics online.

This enables practitioners to increase their ability to successfully treat a wider section of their public and to treat them more successfully, increasing both footfall and the level of successful outcomes. This adds huge value to clinics and vastly increased aesthetic businesses as we focus our marketing support on the seven million women over thirty with either maturity onset acne or rosacea. A pilot study proved that once in the clinic, many of these new patients solve their presenting skin condition and often go on to become long-term aesthetic clients.

Training to Deliver Profit and Successful Outcomes

We have made a huge investment into clinical online training, seeking, and achieving CPD accreditation to provide valued education and upskilling practices. We have invested in submitting and ensuring our training is accredited at level 6 and 7 by academic institutions. We are part of the optional modules of a university MSC. We are currently part way through building and delivering our new SkinMed Academy Training Platform.

Training is available at reduced price, or even free, based on purchasing, providing a further saving. There are levels of entry to training but this also represents both a saving and an investment in excellence .

There’s More - SkinMed Service and Delivery

SkinMed own and run our own warehouse, ensuring we can give you maximum service, as well as ensuring that collateral and marketing support items are shipped with your protocols. We also offer free delivery on monthly orders over £250 ex vat, which is a further great saving to clinics’ bottom line; additional orders in the same month have an at cost only (non-profit) delivery fee, circa £10 ex VAT.

Bonus Products for Performance

Discount is not what we stand for but...

We provide excellent discounts as standard to SkinMed stocking clinics but, more importantly, we support them with hand holding, patient assessment and diagnosis, as well as marketing by promoting your clinic to your local catchment area, all of which is available for free at SkinMeds cost.

We aim to add value to our service by promoting your business, bringing you more customers, instead of just merely selling you products. We bring you marketing skills to enhance your client attractiveness and profit.

However, if it is all about discount...

We offer huge introductory savings on opening account orders, such as Ultimate Plus packages where you get the standard superb product discount listed below and up to 50% by value free in products to facilitate product launch. On these introductory deals we make a loss and consider this an investment for the future. When it comes to peels and products, we have always had the policy that we offer maximum discount from one pack of products, with no minimum order. We do not allow volume to restrict usage, and offer swap out products under certain situations, so your money is not tied up in stock (Terms and Conditions apply, ask our clinical team for more details).

Our standard terms are a minimum of 80% discount on our peels when sold on by clinics at our RRP. If the clinic sells the individual peel treatments for greater than our RRP, which is common, this can deliver over 90% discount. E.g., an Enerpeel SA peel treatment, sold at RRP of £100 ex VAT, is purchased from us at an incredible 80% discount. Often EnerPeel SA treatments are sold for up to £150, which equates to 87% discount or a 75% Profit on Return. For example, a £100 box of Enerpeel SA generates a gross profit to clinics of between £400 to £650 in gross profit.

The Tebiskin range, attracts a 50% discount when sold at the RRP, and again, based on our highly competitive RRP recommendations, the Tebiskin products often achieve a greater margin, 70% discount can be achieved.

The average discount on complete Protocols, which combine both peels and products, is over 70% ROI - we have a spreadsheet calculator that describes Gross and Net profit by protocol - this discount is available to all clinics.

To put it in perspective when we buy a unit of cream at £10, we sell that at £18 to £20 to the clinic, who then sell the product at between £40 and £80. In this case gross profit for SkinMed is £10, the clinics gross profit is £30 to £60.

Our industry-leading Derma FNS Pens are currently available free of charge when a clinic simply buys three boxes of thirty needles beyond normal purchasing levels this refers to additional pens and should not reduce existing purchasing levels of a Derma FNS already in use with the clinic). The needles, which are a necessary consumable that would be bought anyway by any clinic using our dermal needling pen, cost only £10 per needle head (while other companies charge up to £40 per needle head for no clinical or quality advantage) and in return for three boxes, you get a brand-new free Derma FNS Pen, normally worth £800 ex VAT. These needle heads all cost a remarkably comparable price to produce, so again we have set our price to deliver maximum profit for the clinic.

These are our standard discounts; sometimes we do specials like the pen deal above, or introductory offers on new products and we will always do our best to keep you aware whenever you could make a saving With all the above, we massively retain much less per peel, product, and pen in profit than stocking clinics do.

There is more we do, and these are listed in the Appendices that follow
