SKINMED® TRIPLELOCK® ACNE PROTOCOL

A unique protocol only available in selected private aesthetic clinics.
Medically licensed for comedogenic and Inflammatory ccne. Used for all types of acne face, back, chest, black heads (comedones) inflamed spots, maturity onset acne, resistant acne, young adult acne, oily skin, reduce post acne scarring and pigmentation risk.

How big is the problem

Acne affects around 85% of people at some stage in their lifetime. That equates to around 9 million people suffering from acne on any given day of the year, of which around 2.5 million fall into the target audience of most aesthetic clinical practices.

The Science and the Solution

Increased oil production and skin thickness lead to hair follicles being blocked by oil and dead skin cells, creating a perfect environment for acne bacteria to breed. SkinMed® Tebiskin® is medically licensed for the treatment of comedogenic and inflammatory acne, targeting all visible symptoms and underlying causes, by controlling oil production, bacteria and inflammation for long-term relief.

Outstanding Results

An astounding 84% of patients with difficult-to-treat symptoms found that SkinMed® Tebiskin® worked faster and more effectively than antibiotics at reducing oil, bacterial infections and inflammation, proving that SkinMed® Tebiskin® works better than the number one UK acne prescription product, without the associated side effects.

The SkinMed® TripleLock® Approach

SkinMed® Acne TripleLock® is based on three ranges of products; SkinMed® Cera-Boost, SkinVital® Retimitate and SkinMed® OSK. To complete the treatment, and create a bespoke, all-encompassing protocol, they are combined with the power of SkinMed® EnerPeel®, which utilises a patented carrier solution to deliver key active ingredients deep into the skin for outstanding results with minimal downtime.

SKINMED® ENERPEEL® SALICYLIC ACID (SA)

SkinMed® EnerPeel® Salicylic Acid (SA)

SkinMed® EnerPeel® Salicylic Acid (SA) utilises 30% salicylic acid and is suspended in the patented EnerPeel® carrier solution.

This allows us to incorporate the SkinMed® Tebiskin® active ingredients in the carrier, which protects these ingredients from the blockage busting salicylic acid, enabling us to send a high strength, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory dose of OSK ingredients into the infected hair follicle to eradicate existing spots, oil and inflammation.

We combine this with our SkinMed® Retinoids and Ceramide Boosting Formulas to prevent spots happening in the first place. The SkinMed® Acne Protocol is medically indicated for Comedogenic and Inflammatory Acne and also NOW indicated for Resistant Acne (acne unresponsive to prescription medication for 12 months or more).

Acne – Causes and Symptoms

Hormonal sensitisation of the skin causes it to lose oils and fats (lipids), making the skin’s water loss increase dramatically, accelerating skin cell production, increasing keratin deposition inside cells, and pumping more oil onto the skin’s surface.

Although these three things slow down the excessive water loss, the thickened skin and excess oil production combined with more dead skin cells narrow and closes the hair follicle openings.

Bacteria which feed on oil migrate under skin blockages where they multiply, producing inflammatory by-products, resulting in the classic acne spot.

The science

Clinical studies were based at 5 university hospitals on patients whose resistant acne was defined as ‘unresolved’ – even after using prescription medication for 12 months. Patients were prescribed 4 EnerPeel® SA peels, 2 weeks apart in conjunction with the anti-acne topical regimen. This achieved an 84% resolution rate of their acne. This medical protocol kills 96% of acne bacteria, including all antibiotic-resistant acne bacteria, quickly and effectively.

EnerPeel®: Patented Carrier Technology

EnerPeel® uses a patented carrier solution which restrains the activity of the acid until it is absorbed. This is not buffering the acid and thereby reducing its activity; it is restraining it and then releasing it to accelerate through the skin. EnerPeel®s carrier system enhances its activity for uniform and enhanced absorption of the active ingredients; with two to three times improved skin penetration.

The Result

In clinical trials, an astounding 84% of difficult-to-treat patients found the products worked faster than antibiotics in reducing oil, bacterial infections and inflammation. The trials were conclusive and proved EnerPeel® SA, combined with SkinMed®’s Conplete Acne Protocol, to be more effective than the number one UK prescribed product without any associated side effects.

Acne TripleLock® Products to be used with Enerpeel® SA

Acne, Spots and Oily Skin Protocol: Tebiskin® OSK Clean, Tebiskin® OSK Cream, Tebiskin® OSK Lotion, Tebiskin® UV-OSK, Tebiskin® Reticap and Tebiskin® Cera-Boost

Using the EnerPeel® SA

Application details

EnerPeel® SA is specially formulated for controlling hyperkeratinisation of the pilosebaceous duct and the removal of the horny plug. It is also used for controlling the inflammatory phase of papules and pustules. Triethyl Citrate, Ethyl Linoleate and GT Peptide 10 are delivered with the peel to control bacterial colonisation (changes the environment which kills propionibacterium acnes) and also restricts the inflammatory process.

It is particularly good as a 4 peel treatment for resistant acne i.e. (non-responsive to conventional treatments). Subjects presenting at 5 University hospitals where resistant acne was defined as having no relief for 12 months from conventional prescription treatments achieved over 84% resolution with 4 x EnerPeel SA two weeks apart and treated with OSK creams twice a day from two weeks before the first peel and for two weeks after the last peel.

Average application time before removal of surface precipitate: from 3 to 7 minutes (average 5 minutes) according to the genetic and racial characteristics and phototype of the patient

ENERPEEL® PYRUVIC ACID (PA)

EnerPeel® Pyruvic Acid (PA)

SkinMed® EnerPeel® Pyruvic (PA) utilises a patented carrier technology, to transport 50% Pyruvic Acid, which has a lower pKa than Glycolic Acid. (more remodelling ability)

It is an Alpha Keto acid, and pentetrates lipids and oils and a medium deep remodelling agent with a sebostatic effect and hence is used in seborrhea and for reducing superficial acne scars.

Understanding Anti-Ageing

‘Ageing’ can mean many things. We focus on optimising fibroblast performance and health; These are the cells in the dermis that produce fibres of collagen, elastin for structural integrity and elasticity, while also producing hyaluronic acid which as a long chain sugar absorbs and holds water in a jelly like mass keeping the skin taught and the fibres in place.

With anti-ageing, there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all, therefore a flexible protocol that can be tailored to each individual’s skin is needed for success in targeting the keys signs of ageing.

The science

SkinMed® EnerPeel® PA remodelling impact is just below a 25% SkinMed® Enerpeel® TCA, but with a greater safety profile. As a keto acid, it has a sebum slowing effect like the beta hydroxyl acid Salicylic Acid, but it penetrates much deeper than SkinMed® EnerPeel® SA.

It can be also used in conjunction with SkinMed® EnerPeel® JR for a deeper peel especially when sun damage combined with lines and wrinkles are the joint targets.

The Result

Enerpeel® PA is a version of the frequently used pyruvic acid chemical peel in a patented Enerpeel® skin remodelling solution. It is commonly used to treat a wide range of skin issues, including fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation issues as well as oily skin. As it is contained in an Enerpeel® solution, any redness and erythema are much less in severity and duration, compared to many other chemical peels.

Anti-ageing TripleLock® Products to be used with Enerpeel® PA

Using the EnerPeel® PA

Application details

Enerpeel® Pyruvic Acid should always be neutralised and not extended, it is too powerful a peel to be extended.

Normally a layer is applied for 1 to 3 minutes. If frosting is seen during this time then neutralisation should be carried out immediately. If no frosting and discomfort scores are low (below 5/10) then the clinician may decide to apply another layer at three minutes and leave this for up to another two minutes and then neutralise.

This doubling of the solution volume will increase discomfort scores and can lead to frosting, although the Enerpeel® carrier system reduces this. If discomfort scores reach 7 or 8 during this 2 minutes then we recommend immediate neutralisation. The two layer technique increases results considerably but also increases post procedural downtime and PIH risk.

SKINMED® ENERPEEL® MANDELIC ACID (MA)

SkinMed® EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid (MA)

SkinMed® EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid (MA) utilises a patented carrier technology, to transport 40% Mandelic Acid (20% active and 20% inactive, which releases Mandelic acid once in the skin) plus 5% MSM. This combination of ingredients combined in the unique patented carrier solution to treat vascular rosacea and telangiectasia, and are medically licensed for these indications in conjunction with the SkinMed® TripleLock® Products used between treatments to effectively gain control of rosacea in over 80% of users.

SkinMed EnerPeel® MA can also be used for pigmentation and anti-ageing in darker skins at risk of inflammatory pigmentation especially those in darker ethnic groups (acceptable risk) and is widely used by all skin types as a Summer peel, lunchtime peel and weekend peel.

Indications

EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid (MA) is the number one chemical peel used in the Indian subcontinent as an anti-ageing chemical peel. Often used with EnerPeel® Salicylic acid (SA) on top for oily, darker skin types.

The science

Mandelic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that has a number of chemical properties apart from acting as an exfoliating solution that does not trigger erythema. Its ability to help control rosacea has been shown, making it ideal for those prone to reddening.

It is known to be antibacterial and antiviral, and also helps to encourage vascular integrity, having a vaso constrictive action while accelerating vascular remodelling and regeneration while suppressing reddening skin chemical reactions.

EnerPeel®: Patented Carrier Technology

SkinMed® Anti-ageing EnerPeel® uses a patented carrier solution which restrains the activity of the acid until it is absorbed. This is not buffering the acid and thereby reducing its activity; it is restraining it and then releasing it to accelerate through the skin. SkinMed® EnerPeel®s carrier system enhances its activity for uniform and enhanced absorption of the active ingredients; with two to three times improved skin penetration.

The Result

The patented Enerpeel® technology transports microencapsulated active mandelic acid and inactive mandelate into the skin. Deep in the skin, the mandelate converts to mandelic acid, which has a vasoconstrictive effect, helping partially damaged blood vessels to function better and contract, making them less visible. A sequence of four to six MA treatments at two-week intervals, in combination with the Rosacea TripleLock® regimen, established rosacea control, providing long-term relief from symptoms.

Rosacea TripleLock® Products to be used with Enerpeel® MA

Using the SkinMed® EnerPeel® MA

Application details

EnerPeel® MA is a peel that exfoliates but with minimal or no erythema. Can be left on for 2-10 minutes (depending on number of previous peels and patient reaction) and neutralised but for greater remodeling impact, leave in the skin, remove surface residue with water, apply UV to client and send home with a precautionary neutraliser wipe to be used if skin becomes uncomfortable (remove UV before using neutraliser).

The EnerPeel® MA can be used for inflammatory pigmentation treatment and also non-inflammatory pigmentation treatment where there is a concern of using EnerPeel® TCA or EnerPeel® JR.

Fantastic option as an all year round EnerPeel® MA to make the skin glow while also leaving it refreshed and rejuvenated.

Also used in the summer for those who may be concerned of higher sensitivity to UV from other peels.

Tebiskin® Reticap

Pure, microencapsulated retinol

Tebiskin® Reticap contains a high concentration of pure, microencapsulated retinol. Its active ingredients improve skin cell development and function, promoting increased Hyaluronic Acid development, making it an ideal component of the Anti-Ageing protocol.

Skin responds to excessive water loss by increasing skin cell production, thickening the skin to try to slow the water loss. This thickening causes the closure and blockage of hair follicle ducts, exacerbating acne symptoms. Tebiskin® Reticap normalises kin cell production and reduces excess keratin skin thickening, reducing skin build up and opening pores.

Key functional Ingredients – 2% Pure micro-encapsulated Retinol, boosted by Ethyl Ascorbic Acid and Acetylglucosamine to potentiate each retinol molecule for extra activity, Hyaluronic acid for surface hydration plumping and Urea for drawing moisture into the surface layers.

“The Tebiskin® range has been my top skincare brand for the last year or so and I am so pleased I found you. The results achieved for acne and rosacea are the best I have had from any skin product since I started out almost 6 years ago.”

Catriona Joyce, Dermaplicity

No, absolutely not. SkinMed®’s products are safe to use for all skin types and will not harm your health or your skin – there are no associated side effects with these products.

Yes, with both antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide and retinoic acid derivative such as Adapalene. No incompatibilities have been reported. Tebiskin® Reticap should be applied first before other creams.

Can I use Tebiskin® Reticap while pregnant and breastfeeding?

All Tebiskin products are officially safe in pregnancy and breast feeding.

However it is recommended to avoid retinol (vitamin A), prescribed forms of retinol or retinol derivates (retinyl retinoate or palmitate, retinaldehyde or hydroxypinacolone retinoate) in pregnancy and breast feeding.

The level of salicylic acid in Tebiskin products is at the cosmetic dose below 2% and so is safe to use in pregnancy and breast feeding, however we recommend against using them in the first trimester unless agreed with your clinician.

Tebiskin® Ceraboost

A balanced blend of skin ceramides and ceramide releasing agents

Tebiskin® Cera-Boost Face Cream is based on a functional, balanced blend of all 9 key natural Ceramides, Cholesterol, Palmitic Acid, and Fatty Acids in the necessary ratio to improve and restore the barrier function of the skin.

Its effective emollient, nutrient-rich, hydrating action is delivered on multiple levels for plumper, smoother, firmer feeling skin, with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles visibly reduced.

As a result of hormonal sensitization, the level of natural oils and lipids in the skin reduces, causing an unhealthy increase in skin water loss, exacerbating the symptoms of acne. Repairing the skin’s barrier function restores skin moisture control, combatting the hormonal loss of lipids.

“I have suffered from eczema all of my life and have always struggled to find creams that are rich enough to nourish and soft enough to not aggravate my incredibly dry and sensitive skin and cause flare-ups. My eczema is diagnosed as chronic and is incredibly debilitating. I have also recently been diagnosed with urticaria. As the main trigger for my condition is environmental, I am sadly never likely to be able to cure the condition or find anything that will completely manage the affliction…SkinMed, knowing the condition of my skin, have recommended I try the clinical strength Tebiskin® Cera-Boost, which I almost reluctantly tried; I am ever cautious of trying new things due to the sensitivity and chronic condition, for fear of a reaction. I am ever grateful for the recommendation as the Tebiskin has worked brilliantly alongside the Nutritime to calm my skin and manage my frequent flare-ups.”

Ghemma Rhodes

“I have been trialling the Tebiskin Ceraboost for my work The Cosmetic Clinic King’s Lynn, I had eczema on my hands and finger tips which were cracked, bleeding and very sore! After 2 years of different prescribed steroid creams and moisturisers with no luck i felt like nothing could clear it.
I started the ceraboost and noticed a difference within a day! I’ve now been using it around 4-5 weeks and it has completly cleared my eczema! I’m very happy with this product.”

Eloise Macduff, The Cosmetic Clinic

“I have finally come to the end of the bottle of Cera Boost (Tebiskin skin) cream you gave me to try and knew you wanted some feed back in it.

I use this at night time after I have applied my prescribed Epiduo cream. I really like it as I feel it definitely replaces any moisture I have lost from my skin, particularly around my mouth and nose area. It also feels non greasy which is also a bonus, as I can layer it up and get the moisture my skin needs without feeling just pasted in creams. This also means that the following day, j don’t have to use anywhere near as much moisturiser as I used to – therefore it all lasts longer and I don’t end up feeling shiny faced with my make up on, later in the day.

I hope this is useful in some way. I wanted to make sure if I finished it before getting back to you. Either way, I have found the balance of all the right products now I think. Particularly the tebi skin range- especially the sooth clean face wash!”

SkinVital® Retimitate® A.C.E.

The newest addition to the SkinVital® family

Retimitate® is a brand-new retinoid, and a world-first for SkinMed, giving you all the benefits of the most potent form of retinoid – Retinoic Acid (vitamin A) – but now without all those well documented side effects, such as irritation, redness, skin flaking, and photosensitivity.

As we know, retinoic acid is the active form of Vitamin A; other retinoids, such as retinaldehyde, retinol, pro retinol, retinyl palmitate, are less irritating but have to convert to retinoic acid to become active, losing potency with each conversion.

Retimitate® is different.

Retimitate® does not need to convert to become active and doesn’t have the same side effect profile as Retinoic Acid; molecule for molecule, in terms of its optimization of skin cell function, it imitates retinoic acid (hence Retimitate®) to offer outstanding results.

Boost fibroblast activity to increase collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production for tighter firmer skin.

Boost Melanocyte functionality to control excess pigment production, even skin tone, and increase resistance to future pigmentation

Boost Keratinocyte activity and functionality for smoother, more even skin with improved moisture control and epidermal functionality

Boosts skin blood vessel distribution and renewal for better nutrition and oxygenation of cells, and improved skin health

Do any of SkinMed®’s products contain parabens or harmful ingredients?

No, absolutely not. SkinMed®’s products are safe to use for all skin types and will not harm your health or your skin – there are no associated side effects with these products.

Can SkinVital® be used with other treatments?

Yes, no incompatibilities have been reported. SkinVital® is a specially formulated ‘nano liposomal's serum created for maximum absorption into the skin and can be used in combination with other products with depigmenting. SkinVital® should be applied first before other creams.

Can I use Tebiskin® or SkinVital® while pregnant and breastfeeding?

We have no data to support usage or not, and so it is not recommended. Salicylic-containing products are not recommended in pregnancy.
